Pedro Carneiro has been acclaimed by international press as one of the world's leading solo classical percussionists and performs regularly throughout Europe, USA, Japan, Far East, Australia and New Zealand. He has performed the world première of 100 new works and collaborates regularly with a wide range of musicians such as the Arditti and Tokyo Quartets, with whom he performed several new works for marimba and string quartet.
Pedro has been strongly committed to the music of John Psathas for nearly a decade, having premiered several solo, chamber and concerti from this exciting composer.
Carneiro performs and records with many leading orchestras, such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Leipzig Radio Symphony, São Paulo State Symphony, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, New Zealand Symphony, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid and Estonian National Symphony.
He appears regularly as a soloist/director, conducting from the marimba keyboard – he is the chief conductor of the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, the “Orchestra in Residence” at the Centro Cultural de Bélem, Lisbon.
